DESCRIPTION:Philip Thorby will be the musical director of this wonderful workshop\, which will mark the 540th anniversary of the death of the great Andrea Gabrieli\, composer and first organist at St Mark’s in Venice from 1566 until his death in 1585. \nWe will explore some of Andrea’s great twelve-part works\, including the psalm setting\, `Benedicam Dominum’\, and the masterly hymn to music\, `Cantiam di Dio’.  If the forces are suitable\, we shall also explore his immense\, four-choir\, sixteen-part `Gloria’. \nSingers\, cornetts\, sackbuts\, recorders\, curtals\, strings and continuo are all welcome\, but please note that there will not be C-clefs for all the pieces\, and continuo players will be working from scores or figured bass parts.  Non-SWEMF participants are also very welcome. \nPlease contact Marilyn Pocock at marilyn.pocock@btinternet.com if you wish for further information.
